Instruction and Download to the Anno1503 LaunchTool
There are many reasons why to have different Anno installations on the harddisk: one to use the overbuild function of the version 1.04, another to play the add-on version. And why not have an additional installation, just for the Mapeditor, too?
Parallel installations (you'll find a tutorial from Bomi at the bottom of this page) are absolutely feasible. To have a simple start, just use Sir Henry's LaunchTool:
This tool allows you to easily run several Anno installations.
The handling is simple, you just have to copy the Tool on your harddisk, then paste a link either on the desktop or in the startmenue.

The Anno LaunchTool
Running the Tool will open a window, which provides a few options. Visible on this image are buttons to add (Hinzufügen), delete (Löschen), run (Starten) and close (Schliessen). The option Singleplayer is already preseted.
After hitting the Hinzufügen button (add), a new window will appear, where you can browse and choose an Anno folder. In this case here, it's Anno1503 without the add-on.
After choosing an Anno folder, click OK. A dialog box will appear, where you can enter a name.
Confirming with OK will add the link, in our case here Anno1503 without the add-on.
Now, just click Start and the chosen Anno version will run.
Before beginning, please be sure to have the correct disk in the drive.
All features of the tool were tested and all options fully passed the test. Many thanks to Sir Henry, who has programmed the tool.

Many thanks to Bomi who has written following tutorial
Tutorial: Multiple Installation
First, install v1.00 in e.g. "D:GamesANNO 1503". Then copy the entire content of this directory to another drive or directory, e.g. "D:GamesANNO 1503 v1.00". Now patch up "ANNO 1503" to v1.04 and copy the entire content of the resulting installation to e.g. "D:GamesANNO 1503 v1.04". Repeat the same steps with the add-on and the editor. Now, you should have following directories:
-
D:GamesANNO 1503 v1.04 - original v1.00
-
D:GamesANNO 1503 v1.04.Editor - with patch 1.04.02
-
D:GamesANNO 1503.AddOn - latest version, e.g. with add-on
